That same month, a deepfake Elon Musk appeared across X and Telegram, promoting a “Tesla Crypto Giveaway.” Constructed from real Tesla earnings calls, the video perfectly captured Musk’s speech cadence and mannerisms. Within days, the scam extracted $1.8 million in Ethereum and Dogecoin.
