FaceOff in a Box: Privacy Without the Cloud

FaceOff Technologies has introduced FaceOff in a Box, a portable AI-powered appliance designed to bring data privacy, security and DPDP compliance directly inside an organization’s premises. Its core proposition is simple: sensitive data stays within the organization rather than being transferred to external cloud infrastructure.
The appliance performs personal-data discovery, classification, masking, monitoring, consent management, auditing and reporting locally. Face and identity processing, policy enforcement and compliance records also remain within the customer’s network, strengthening both data sovereignty and operational control.
A key differentiator is its ability to run sophisticated AI locally without requiring conventional data-center infrastructure. FaceOff says the system uses desktop-class AI hardware capable of supporting language and vision models while operating with power requirements closer to a workstation than a server rack.
This addresses a significant challenge with cloud-based privacy platforms: organizations may need to provide third parties access to the very personal information they are trying to protect. That can introduce additional processor relationships, security dependencies and compliance considerations.
FaceOff also targets the complexity of conventional on-premises deployments, which can require separate servers, accelerators, cooling, integration and specialist administration. FaceOff in a Box arrives as an integrated and hardened appliance, with deployment designed to take hours rather than months.
The larger opportunity comes from India's DPDP compliance transition. Banks, hospitals, manufacturers, government departments and mid-sized businesses need stronger privacy controls without necessarily building expensive infrastructure or becoming dependent on cloud processing.
